July 25th

I emailed Knilling for a good violin shop in Houston so you can take Gail's violin in when needed!

Please feel free to interview many teachers before settling on one! Make sure Gail feels really comfortable!

Make sure you tell the teacher that Gail's violin has Perfection Pegs or they might damage them trying to tune the instrument!

Questions for a new teacher:

1) What is your teaching background and professional background?

2) Where did you study violin? College degree in music?

3) Are you comfortable teaching children? How many are in your studio?

4) What methods do you use to teach violin?

5) Do spend a good amount of time in each playing position to help full comprehension of notes and technique?

6) Will you eventually ensure all scales & arpeggios will be taught in 3 octaves?

7) Do you work with sight reading materials to help prepare students for auditions?

8) Are you an even-tempered teacher? (avoid teachers with a reputation of yelling!!!)

9) What is your lesson cancellation policy & payment policy? (make sure you are truly comfortable!)
